Antenna simulation results

how to view the results of an antenna-type analysis in vision. This type of analysis is in fact, a mixed electric/electromagnetic under the assumption of radiation in the far-field. The user is able to consult both the results of the electrical stimulation, such as the incident and reflected powers at each port of the antenna and the radiation pattern of the latter. The proposed graphs take into account the variations established in the VAR block as well as the variations in the azimuth angle (Phi) and elevation (Theta) obtained from the EM simulation files.

To begin this task, you will need:From example described in Setup Antenna schematic, we will analyze the performances of an ANTENNA model associated with HPA-B-HF model. The basic steps to visualize are:
  1. Open the schematic example from Setup Antenna schematic. Click on Simulate>Run simulation or on the shortcut . The output console is displayed:
    Figure: Console

The console window contains the simulation time, the simulation mode, the repertory of the results, and also any warnings and errors encountered during the simulation.
  2. When closing the console window, simulation results appear in the application tree in the folder named after the simulation "sim0". In "sim0", click on Output graphs tab to access the measurements provided by the probes. Select Waveform Probes to display magnitude and phase of incident and reflected powers at each antenna ports and data from others probes from the schematic. By displaying the magnitude of incident power, you can see the variation according to the vertical phase shift variable phase_shiftY. You can find a specific antenna port by looking on the index in the graph title. For example, to identify port number 7, look at the index P7 in graph title as mag(antenna_4_4_pIncP7).

  3. Click on Filter button to select one or several curves depending on the horizontal phase shift variable phase_shiftX.

  4. Click on Antenna tab named as the Antenna block from the schematic. In this example, the tab is named antenna_4x4. You have access to several graphs which plot radiation patterns.

  5. Click on Far field pattern 3D tab to display radiation pattern on 3D graph. Click and drag on the 3D graph to change the orientation of the axes. On the top-right, select the data to plot. By default, Etotal is selected. Click on Filter button to select data from specific values of variables phase_shiftX and phase_shiftY. If Theta is selected on Sweep type, select all Phi angles to plot a complete 3D radiation pattern depending on angle resolution and limit available in Far Field data.

  6. Click on Far field pattern tab to display radiation pattern data according to Theta and Phi angles.

  7. Click on Far field pattern 2D tab to display radiation pattern cuts according to Theta or Phi angles.

  8. Click on Far field pattern Polar 2D tab to display radiation pattern cuts on polar plot.
